You’ll want to check your mail carefully this month, as the Cumberland County Assessment Office found a computer update glitch that printed the wrong owner names on some school real estate tax bills. The affected bills were mailed out on July 1, but thankfully this error hit less than 1% of properties. The county is working with their software vendor to fix the records by the end of July. Commercial Truck Flees Crash on I-81

State Police are asking for the public’s help regarding a hit-and-run crash that occurred early Tuesday morning, July 21. Around 6:37 AM, a commercial truck merging onto the left lane of the I-81 South off-ramp side-swiped a Honda Accord at mile marker 52 in Middlesex. The impact pushed the Honda into a concrete barrier and caused major damage, leaving the car stuck. The truck driver fled the scene without sharing insurance or registration info, but the Honda driver gave police some details for the open investigation.

Summer League Crowns Youth Basketball Champs

It wasn’t all just traffic and bugs last week! On Saturday, July 25, the community gathered at Memorial Park to watch the exciting final championship games of the 2026 Carlisle Summer League. It was a fantastic turnout to support local kids and the businesses sponsoring them. Diamond Wealth Advisors took the 10U title in their yellow jerseys, Atom Labs won the 12U division in orange, and The Tuckey Companies brought home the 14U championship in beige.

Middlesex Township Seeks Planning Volunteers

If you want a voice in how our local area grows, now is your chance. As of July 21, Middlesex Township started looking for volunteers to join their brand new Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee. This group will meet once a month for about six months to figure out the best ways to manage land use and new buildings. It’s a great opportunity to make sure our town stays a place we’re all proud of.

It was a big week for Carlisle’s arts and culture scene. Saturday, July 25 at 3:00 PM was your last chance to catch the “West Shore Photography Club Showcase” at the Carlisle Arts Learning Center (CALC). If you missed it, you can still see Jim Mackey’s chainsaw-carved totems in the “Final Forest” exhibit. Plus, on July 20, Bosler Library opened registration for their Learning Garden, an awesome outdoor play and learning space for kids.
