Review of a Slice of Pizza at Miseno Pizza and Ristorante in Carlisle, PA

The Mission
I tried a slice of plain cheese pizza at every traditional pizza shop the Carlisle, Pennsylvania on a mission to find the best slice of pizza in Carlisle. I could eat pizza almost every meal of the day, it’s definitely one of my top favorite foods without question. And when I get pizza, I usually just get a few plain cheese slices from a traditional pizza shop nearby. Nothing fancy. But I am a bit picky about my slices. And since I live in Carlisle now, so I gotta know where the best slice is! Here’s my review of a slice from Miseno Pizza and Ristorante…

Even Playing Field
I made sure to visit each pizza shop either around 12:00PM noon or around 5:00PM/6:00PM when they should have a good fresh slice pie ready that hasn’t been sitting around for a while. This puts them on even playing fields and gives them the best shot at giving me a good representation of their slices. It also gives me the opportunity to see how the service is when they are a bit more busy. And I do not let them know I am doing a review, so they are not doing anything special or better because of that.
My Bias
Full disclosure, I’m a sauce guy. I need enough sauce and it needs to have some tang and/or sweetness and good flavor, or I won’t like it. And I don’t like a crazy amount of cheese, so places that make slices like that, immediately have a disadvantage in my ratings. If you like tons of cheese and don’t care about the sauce, then you could probably go by the opposite of my ratings.
Notes
- Price Per Slice (including tax): $3.18
- Day of the Week: Saturday
- Time: 12:50PM – Dead when I got there and while I ate my food. 3 people came and went towards the end of my visit. Was there maybe 30 minutes.
- Order: 2 slices of plain cheese pizza
- Wait time after ordering: 3 min 46 sec
- Dining room: Not huge, but some room for seating
- Parking: Plenty. Located in strip mall with large parking lot.
- Skill games but they were turned off and unplugged.
- The TV was off. No music or anything. No people or employees chatter or working noise. Just dead silent. Felt dead and dying.
- Have soda coolers and self serve fountain soda.
Rating
on a scale of 1 to 10
- Cheese: 7 – average
- Sauce: 6 – slightly below average – okay, but not much zest or kick or flavor
- Sauce to Cheese Ratio (was there enough sauce?): 7 – average – similar to most places, but not extra good to me because I like slightly more sauce
- Crust: 7 – average – I like the under crust, was good thickness and had good chew. But the end crust was a bit thin and crunchy for my taste, I like a little more puffiness.
- Size: 7 – average
- Service: 6 – sligjtly below average – Not very friendly service. Awkwardly greeted. And felt like she didnt want to be there.
- Facility: 6 – slightly below average – clean, but things turned off and things being stored in the corner of the dining room made it lower than average – If you’re looking for a place to dine-in with nice atmosphere and ambiance, this is not the place.
