Setting the Stage

The Mission

I tried a slice of plain cheese pizza at every traditional pizza shop the Carlisle, Pennsylvania on a mission to find the best slice of pizza in Carlisle. I could eat pizza almost every meal of the day, it’s definitely one of my top favorite foods without question. And when I get pizza, I usually just get a few plain cheese slices from a traditional pizza shop nearby. Nothing fancy. But I’m a bit picky about my slices.

Even Playing Field

I made sure to visit each pizza shop either around 12:00PM noon or around 5:00PM/6:00PM when they should have a good fresh slice pie ready that hasn’t been sitting around for a while. This puts them on even playing fields and gives them the best shot at giving me a good representation of their slices. It also gives me the opportunity to see how the service is when they are a bit more busy. And I do not let them know I am doing a review, so they are not doing anything special or better because of that.

My Bias

Full disclosure, I’m a sauce guy. I need enough sauce and it needs to have some tang and/or sweetness and good flavor, or I won’t like it. And I don’t like a crazy amount of cheese, so places that make slices like that, immediately have a disadvantage in my ratings. If you like tons of cheese and don’t care about the sauce, then you could probably go by the opposite of my ratings.
